LCD is over, so here is some of the larger pieces of art that didn't fit in the scanner. They're all huge files, and photoshop'd the same way- re-sized, cropped, and making the lights lighter and the darks darker (but not a contrast difference).
1. I think it was a self-portrait at one point, but this is the luminosity painting I did over winter break. Acrylic on Cardboard.
2. the third of the 3d glasses set, this is somewhat cubist. Charcoal and Newspaper.
3. Abstract cubist luminosity/chiaroscuro painting. Acrylic.
4. Foreground, middleground, background exercise, with normal, faux, and sfumato color palettes. Color-aid.

Vices
This is a design and color theory project based on the Seven Vices. We also had to write something to go with them. I don't know how this will translate from paper to screen, but it will be a little brighter here than how it is in real life.

Goldfish
Lets get to 250 before the end of the year.
Grats to people for blogging during break. I'll read them.
I was looking through my portfolio photos and I found this closeup of a cutout I did last year. Single-edged razor, no predrawing, some invisible colored pencil.

I want to do a project like Ganes did years ago: a self-portrait a day. I wanna do a lot of things.

sonic adventure 2 battle music.
I read an article over the summer about this dance troup, and I think it's amazing. There are so many ideas that can happen when you take shadow puppets to the extreme.

too much time to think
Today a man being interviewed about Hard Day's Night said that surrealism is the point when two realities touch. It makes total sense.
Update 1. Children'sShowSet.
Shadow puppets. There will be a great white bedsheet, with a cardboard-cutout of a city skyline behind the sheet, and a light behind that for a shadow. Then for a different scene, we could exchange the skyline cutout for another cutout. It's fairly simple, easy to figure out, painfully cheap. And I feel like shadow puppets, basically, are a kid-thing that kids can relate to. We could even have a pots and pans percussion parade.
I would love to have a model ready for Yuvgenia, because I await and dread the critique. And I want to show what I learned last year. I'm about a month ahead of myself, but that's okay.
Update 2. ShirtIdea.
Once upon a time I got a book about Heraldry. At jousting matches, the coat of arms would be annouced by a small, loud man (the Herald), using all these fancy old-French terms. At the back of the book is a stencil mat with some of the different animals and patterns you could use.
So I put together parts from the eagle, lion, bear, horse, and dragon. And I added horns for the antelope. Gemsbok. Oryx. It's just the same thing. I added color. Now I would need to redesign it to look less like a kid's stencil. And it should be longer. And it should have some sense of balance.
Oryx horns, eagle beak, lion's mane, bear claws, horse end, dragon tail.

the piebald crow.
listening to: Talking Heads and then Daft Punk.
A good cutout, a failed cutout. also, drawing for some sort of Hansel und Gretel (must be 'und').the good. eyes are either closed or open. they were meant open, but work closed.

the failed. her mouth got lost. this was unplanned, and only about 1 1/4 inch.

and Hansel und Gretel. In the original story (i must read it again), hansel and gretel's mother tells the father to abandon them in the woods because the family is doing terrible financially. and they keep finding their way back, until they dont. arm isnt good, but they look desperate. it's in pen, so i couldn't erase when the arm was too low, so it looks like her pecs are huge. but they aren't. pointy head <3.

basically:
Gretel: Hansel... it's a house.. made of candy!
Hansel: OMNOMNOMNOM

i'll name her goldy
AP bio test on monday. then stac in the afternoon (which may fry my brain even more), then Star Trek.
i was. . reprimanded today for lack of perfection, and it bothers me when my. . its not like 'level of artistic talent', but i dont like when someone claims that another person got so much better artistically from just the atmosphere of the first someone. it might be a lack of a compliment, or it might be someone's total love for the other person's work, but it doesn't feel right.
its like mispronouncing something. you are marked by such an impediment forever. and then someone younger than you gets complimented and even loved for saying something right. by now, you've already broken down your one mispronounced word into syllables, looked up its history, and can say it in three languages. it's aggravating.
fish-eye cutout. two hours? aboutish. singled-edged razor and paper, with temporary blue construction paper here. maybe it should be orange construction paper. it was an exhausting day. for size ratio, it needed to be put sideways to fit in the scanner. the man is about 6 inches, and has a weirdly shaped head.
sometimes in stac i feel like im distancing myself from people. like. . .okay, there are certainly times when i just want to yell shuddup to the room, and times when i want to snap at people for degrading their work, and sometimes when i know i should say 'you've really improved' but i end up saying something more negative. i don't think im unapproachable- i helped people who came to me- but a lot of times, i wouldn't want to deal with me.
