Drawings.

My contribution to STACnight is... a foam-core cow and foam-core boat. Versus a full mural last year. I feel a little lazy.
These are from a jazz concert and today in school. All are real people, and probably resemble some people, but I don't know most of their names.
The bridge of her nose reminds me more of a Japanese characteristic than it actually is, and The pink is an expo marker I borrowed.

My portfolio. Warning: many many nudes ahead.

Zombie, Fela Kuta, and Christmas.

Merry Christmas. No 'whad'jaget?', just that I have another large sketchbook. The extended family went, ooh, ahh, draw something, so I found a marker and showed off. I drew a self-portrait, and I like this one. There is enough going wrong with this picture in 'reality' that i'm just leaving it alone.
I remember seeing a Man Ray figure-drawing and thinking 'I couldn't get into college with this.' And I smiled a bit because it's a little pathetic. On one hand, Man Ray is just a person. On the other hand, what am I expecting colleges to expect? Am I an intellectual artist? Can I be?
I've been listening to Fela Kuti's Zombie.

Attention!
Quick march!
Slow march!

Left turn!
Right turn!
About turn!
Double up!
Salute!
Open your hat!
Stand at ease!
Fall in!
Fall out!
Fall down!
Get ready!

Halt!

Doodles. I cleaned out my loose-papers-drawer in art.

1. Drew with marker, like Fingerdents.
2. Guiseppe Zangara attempted to assassinate FDR in Miami. He did not succeed, and he had horrible abdomen pains, and he claimed no political affiliation, and he did it because he was angry with America. Learned this from Assassins. History through musical.
3. Skull based on a drawing attempt made by a kid in a different art class. The Nervous system should always be purple.
4. 5th Element costume notes. Amazingly costumed movie.
5. Princess and the Pea.

pg. 150. Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pip are out of the Shire.

Found this in my photobucket archives. Iron Giant. This is about the same part of the movie as the coffee scene. After he wags his finger he does this finger-circle thing on "you need a challenge". That move is so important. Animation.
listening to winnie the pooh songs. The original movie that the clip is from may be the cutest thing ever. I watched the Jungle Book again yesterday, and I think I realized why it's so amazing, story-wise. Mowgli rejects the Call the whole time, and Bagheera and Baloo have their own different quests. It's really amazing. Besides the animation- that's another god altogether. Connection between the movies? Winnie-the-Pooh and Kaa have the same voiceactor.
The City is a weird place. I never want to live there, but I love all the crazy people. There was this guy who looked like John Lennon + Waldo + 10moreinches of hair. I went in today to join a studio for figure drawing, which is essentially understanding how the body works by drawing/painting/art-ing the nude figure. I don't really have a problem with naked people, but a lot of people do. I wish people, especially teenage girls, could accept bodies more.
There are 2 mins, 5 mins, 20 minute pieces. Used marker, ebony pencil, crayon. 2 models.
There are more at this Photobucket Page.
I like being able to draw faces.

Teaching, Kebabs, and Chimeras

listening to 5/4, Gorillaz. I know they're not good musically, but w/e. iTunes on random: Rockin' the Paradise (Styx), Fuzzy and Blue (and Orange!) (Sesame Street), I was Meant for the Stage (Decemberists).
First.
Student teaching. My mom was a lawyer, then stayed home to raise 4 kids, and now that the youngest is gonna be going into Middle school, she's getting her teaching degree. She's student teaching a 9th grade history class. Not too much homework, but like a little paragraph every night, and I think that's fair.
She came to me this afternoon with her book and asked me if this was a boy's handwriting. Cursive letters, neat, straight, little circles over the I's. No teenage guy has neat handwriting. Plus the name was spelt wrong. We come up with a decent plan of attack: collect the notes from the day's class. I wonder how much he's paying her.
Second.
Alex Kebabs and Grilled Soccer
3 pounds Alex sirloin
1 Hawaiian pineapple
1 soccerball
Assorted Peace and Love flowers
Ground Manhattan seasoning
12 skewers
Cut up the pineapple, sirloin, and skewer them with the flowers (check for bugs). Cut up the soccer ball. Grill somewhere outside, preferably on a beach. Make sure to season the kebabs and the grilled soccer ball in the last minutes before eating.
Third. Everything happens in 3s.
Tee shirt design.
One of my ideas, the one I'd go with, is a darkish purple shirt with the emblem of a golden yellow Chimera on the side, in total medieval style. The Heraldic term is segreant, a wingled quadreped on its hind legs. With parts from Bear, Eagle, Lion, Horse, Dragon, and Hart, perhaps. Or antelope. I think these are noble animals, 6 of them to represent the diciplines, all coming together to make this one sort of wonderful beast. Not aggressive, bit it's a symbol of togetherness. And one color is cheap. And I want something I can wear. And the 6 animals will be represented separately on the back.
It's fallable, but workable. I don't have a visual, because I still don't know exactly what's happening. But I don't want a shirt with a logo that had nothing to do with the slogan.

pics

pics.
i got bored and found the plate on the table. the lunchtrays are made out of sturdy cardboard. why not? Blue marker. The crone, the maid, and the mother. with the same hair.
Oberon the fairy king. Theres so much symmetry in the design that i just couldnt add a crown. I pictured the King and Queen as Pharohs, and as immortals they would be almost without time. This is his face whenever Titania bothers him. Black pen. I love how the nose and the ear are like opposite shapes. Plus, the eye has no opposite shape, so it stands out more. Magic Trolls and the Troll Warriors. Remember King No-Laugh?!

Klee

ok. im going to be fully ready for tomorrow's painting. i feel like im running a workshop. im making 8 tiles of mock-up:
red-orange,
orange-yellow,
yellow-green,
green-blue,
blue-purple,
purple-red,
red-black,
black.
technically, if there's a black tile, there should be the beginning white tile. whatever. this is only a model of the actual, and as long as the idea goes across, everything will be fine.
I really really like the idea that only one person is moving at a time for the bittersweet symphony film. If we can get a dolly, and have a lot of people be still, it will be so friggin awesome. i think it's great that stac people can say 'wow thats a great idea lemme throw out everything my group did and do it'.
drawings in blue crayola marker.
edit: the colors look great. more later.

bandit

Drawn on paper lunch bag. White paper didn't feel quite right. a little too blank. It's not really my style, but more of a generic comicbook/cartoon style. rowan atkinson nose ^_^.
