I got my ID from FIT, which has a lot of security ee ee. it shouldn't have taken 45 minutes for a picture, but I felt better that I went alone (Mom fell asleep on a couch outside). I'm not really alone, I'm in a crowd. And crowds are comforting.

I really really like subways now. Me and the R train are gonna be bffles.

I had a reason to go to Border's today- Border's has a larger computer book section than Barnes&Noble. I finally got my Maya8 Foundations book for less than I thought I would ever find it for. Technically, I need to draw a lot more before I start with computer rendering, but it would be great to get the base of the work down so that I can screw around with rendering when the school year starts.

tonight is HorribleFest- Dr. Horrible dvd and commentary. its like a movie night, but theres more pizza, more people, and a pinata (just add the ~ in your mind).

final pics of Roberto and its gruesome death tonight. The painting was done with the washable tempora paints in the house, which were aweful but not messy.

final project alternatives/what i learned:

get candy first, and remember that candy is heavy and more expensive than you think it is.

paint multiple coats. paint it all white first, then add the other colors.

flour plaster needs to be made in large quantities, because you will run out of plaster when your hands are sticky.

flour plaster smells terrible. so does paint.

flour plaster is sticky, but it comes out of clothes.

next time, use cardboard at the bottom for better structural support.

the inevitable thought: can homemade pinatas be a business? they would be overly expensive, and at the request of the customer. customers can be nasty. what about organic candy, sugarless candy, nut-less candy, and other alternatives. those can be made, for a lot more money. its an interesting idea, making pinatas out of my own house. wedding pinatas. custom pinatas. i can imagine the spongebob and spiderman pinatas, the margarita pinatas. I can send out a catalogue.

anyways, i may have a new 'job'. its not much, but there's a florist mom knows who delivers to all the churches and could use someone who's back is intact. it probably won't pay more than $5 an hour, but that's okay. the lady at the florist is so nice. i'll learn about keeping a shop and maybe even ring up customers and help deliver flowers. I'll learn something.

back at PAL camp, the craft lady made a pinata with balloons. I was maybe 9 or 10, but i remember the newspaper strips, plaster/glue,

then after you plaster everything cept for the candy hole, and it dries, you poke pins through the newspaper and the

balloons are gone. now there's room for candy. i dont have plaster, so im gonna use flour and water and some glue. i hope that works.

the basic plan:

i didn't want to make a cloud, which is easy to make with balloons. a monster! green monster!

arms are cardboard or thin balloons, feet are cardboard. black, red, white-yellow, and green paint.

its gonna be about 3 feet x 2.5 feet. i think. whatever happen, happens.

I got The Brave Little Toaster out from the library, and after pressing 'play' i spent the first 30 seconds praying that the VCR worked.the appliances are so stretched. its amazing. the marker isnt really that blue, i just boosted the contrast/color.

i realized that the main blanket's eyes were too far apart (a bad assumption on my part), so i tried to fix it with the cut-off blankie. the KLEEN soap logo is amazing. it was onscreen for all of 3 secs. thats the toaster, with the simplest design, and the air conditioner! and radio.

i need to find the short story the movie was based on. ive read some of it. i know its at the library.

i, got a thin sketchbook from cvs, with better paper than the usual cvs books i get. only 30 pages, so this is a trial run. the paper takes marker very well. its just nicer. i havent tested pencil yet, because i didnt have one in my pocket.

Graduation photos today- an excuse to experiment with makeup! i didn't look like a clown, either.

im starting to get into a groove for the summer. i want to have a more stable wake-up time. 7, 730 would be fine. other than that, my afternoons are starting to flesh out into a schedule.

i dont know if it was really anticommunist, but there was something about popeye singing baseball songs and pounding a giant Bluto in a Red spacesuit that just shouted 'lets beat those commies'.

i found a vhs in my basement that i really liked as a kid- Thumbelina. http://www.enokifilmsusa.com/library/thumbelina.htm. its really just an anime version, but its nice and im looking for it online. only the sound works on the tape.

i feel like i need another big art project. i dunno what i'd do, but i want it to be big and showy. i want people to see it, and i want their reactions, anonymously. i dont even know what form of art to do. some limitations, and then an idea.

i have ideas. its just hard to figure out which media form they work best in.

im ready to have a summer doing independent art studies. i like having my own rules than following other peoples rules. i dont ever want to apologize about that.

STACnight. parents came. my nails ache from all the biting. i think i was more worried about people not asking about my work than people having opinions about it. im okay with someone going 'i dont like it'. i just want them to have a reason. the final mural is 4' x 16', took me and a group of people some weeks to paint, and no one really asked about it. i could have said 'oh, well, the white circle at the beginning is the seed. then the colors flow and branch and eventually die back into the black tiles, which have white circles in them. thats all death and rebirth'.

only about 20 tiles left for the mural.

i just happen to have the paper the tiles will be mounted on in my house. lmao the house of craft supplies.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is one of the best games in my house because I don't fail totally at it. I get so frustrated when i can't win at video games. Thats why I have Fable ^_^.

rule-idea of life: never put down your own work. you should have respect for it, and even if you don't want to see it ever again, never degrade something that came from your own hands. humility is different than constantly saying that your work sucks.

started watching Dexter episodes online. Dexter, the serial killer, not Dexter's lab, but that's next. i dont want to watch it at night >.<, but i like it a lot. its like another step up from CSI.

spent the afternoon painting in the backyard for the mural. 71 empty spaces on the wall. its not as much as it sounds, because if i have 15 people working, they just need 4 or 5 each to finish things off. i dont think i'll have 15 people.

I set up a mirror for a lot of the shadows, and borrowed my own smile. I think I stole they eyes from Ultimate Spiderman, but I'm not sure. I don't have any sort of proper shading stump, so some of it is more rough than others.

the theme was supposed to be man vs. machine, but now its about machines making people prettier.

i realize the brow ridge and chin aren't female characteristics, but a handsome guy makes an ugly girl. So yeah, she's normal.

wow the smile is off-center.

a rototiller is the child of a plow and a gas lawnmower. it's terrible to use, eats up the ground, and makes a lot more noise than an ox amd plow. but my little plot in the backyard really needed it.

my books came in! pocket references: "Painting waterscapes" and "Painting landscapes". this is a june project, after the squares and before FIT classes start. I love Amazon: i got these for about 2.50 each, and shipping wasn't that much. I may have not reached $10. That's great for any book. i think the books were originally 9 each? and they don't look secondhand. I wouldn't mind.

STACnite- June 11th. That's when the PANdemic mural is due. I should design the title. I want something to do with PAN the lower deity, and mazes. Perhaps the middle of the A will be a maze. That's going to be great to design, cut out, and stencil onto paper.

the Black and White mural looks like it's going to get done. i'd rather have a smaller group of people working on the color mural than the whole class, because I seriously can't keep track of everyone.

the FIT class in lifedrawing is working out. 3 hours, 4 days a week, 3 weeks. I'll get lunch from a pretzel vendor and go uptown to central park to draw at the zoo until 5pm, then meet my dad at penn station and we'll go home. busy busy but im glad i get to go to a zoo. i should really draw my dog more.

now for Stress Management term paper. i don't mind writing papers anymore. I just mind when teachers are so stiff about it.

the good. eyes are either closed or open. they were meant open, but work closed.

the failed. her mouth got lost. this was unplanned, and only about 1 1/4 inch.

and Hansel und Gretel. In the original story (i must read it again), hansel and gretel's mother tells the father to abandon them in the woods because the family is doing terrible financially. and they keep finding their way back, until they dont. arm isnt good, but they look desperate. it's in pen, so i couldn't erase when the arm was too low, so it looks like her pecs are huge. but they aren't. pointy head <3.
