Pareidolia: a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant.
Apophenia: the experience of seeing patterns or connections in random or meaningless data.

  1. Wow. For the past two years, "apophenia" has been my favourite word. I think "pareidolia" might become my favourite for the next two.
